tools of the Mentawai people on the islands just off the coast of Padang (2 hour ferry ride), still living as they have for centuries... relatively untouched by modernity if i had more time, i wish i could get out there & visit the Mentawai for myself.
tatooing remains common. about the only place in Indonesia i know of where traditional tatooing is still done. these are the tools. well,,, it's supposed to leave a mark- right?
