Highlights: travel to Padang

Arranging travel via minivan took 5 minutes and $7.50 The trip took 6 hours through twisty mountain roads & thick forest areas. What was impressive to watch, besides the driver weaving around slow moving trucks/scooters & praying for no accidents, was watching the shift in traditional house architecture.

When we left, traditional Jambi/Palembang architecture was still largely prevalent. As soon as we crossed into West Sumatra province,,, instant change in “traditional” architecture.
The land of the Minankabau is unique in several ways,,, and the pointy roof structure of their traditional homes is a notable one.
