Highlights: drive with Wendy & friends to Muara Bungo
Jasnari and the Agroforestry guys were headed out to Muara Bungo, which is well along the way to Padang, my next stop. They offered to give me a ride & show me what they do here in the Sumatran forest conservation business. Sure! (=
We left around noon, and got there 4-5 hours later. The Jambi countryside is beautiful. We pulled over in two places,,, a woodworking community (the table sets are $100!!) and a Javanese brick & shingle community. There appear to be several Javanese communities sprinkled through Jambi. Most of them left looking for work, and the cost of living is cheaper here.
