Highlights: swimming, lunch, meeting more relatives

Adding to the motif of 1sts, we added the swimming pool today. (= Nina, like many Indonesians, doesn’t know how to swim, and is far from comfortable in & around waters where her toes cannot reach the bottom.

It’s been a while (high school), but I used to teach basic swimming,,, and found an opportunity to dust off the old swimming skills one more time. Full length pajamas would do the trick for Nina’s bathing suit just fine. (= It was hard to resist pushing her into the pool,,, but I figure- there comes a point when you have to test your fears of the water & learn to overcome them. Swimming works. It may not be the most natural skill to pick up, for people accustomed to life on land exclusively, but it opens doors to a whole new world of fun, adventure & exercise. We gave a demo of the breast stroke, side stroke, back stroke & crawl,,, and got an advanced doggy paddle out of her (= but that’s a first step! She did well for her first day in the water.
