The Marine flag detail and ceremonial cake cutting was sharp, the guest speaker comments were brief, and dinner was out of the ordinary!

Dinner came in 5 courses, and lived up to the JW Marriott reputation for fine living. I’ve never had salmon, covering a plate, with a single leaf of lettuce & side sauce served as the salad course before… I thought it was a main dish! I was almost stuffed before desert came out! (= never fear though,,, I persevered.

This weekend has been a series of firsts for Nina. First trip anywhere with a boyfriend, first sleepover at a boy’s house (we’re on best behavior), first Marine Corps Ball, and now,,, 1st dance.

She dragged her feet with a smile the whole night,, but finally I got her out there over a Shakira song. One other 1st was probably most instrumental in ending the night after that 1 dance,,, and that was 1st time wearing heels. Indeed, this was Miss Nina’s first time outside of flip flops or sandals. She did well. No major trips or twisted ankles! (=

We went home stuffed & happy.
