Prambanan has a great dinner + a show deal, where the Ramayana story is performed. Few places can rival the location of this performance, and it was a good cultural experience for my 3 new friends, as the Ramayana influence can be seen everywhere in Indonesian culture (wayang puppets, traditional dances, gamelan music, and a significant number of wood/stone/silver carvings and handicrafts)…

Jalil had to jump on a train, so we said goodbye to him at the show, Carool and Prof Brannon were just about wiped out, so they went home early, leaving Nina & I to finish watching the show & catch a ride home.

Turned out, our ride home was with the performers van, and we sat next to the lead performer (Sinta), and a few of Rawana’s maidens on the way home. (= ha ha.

‘Sinta’ is currently a 34 year old housewife; and aside from enjoying performing, this is her way of getting out of the house. Some of the other performers are college students, working their way through school & supplementing their spending money. Nice folks.
