Highlights: Argo Willis eksekutif train to Yogya, Kraton, Malioboro street, dinner, Rochmadi family, help in translation
Another gracious courtesy of the conference, they paid our train fare to Yogya & took us to the Bandung train station by 6:30am. ($18 each). That was above & beyond.
The Argo Willis executive coach was a nice way to travel across the heart of Java. Bandung to Yogya is a 7-hour train ride. The train tracks cut between towering volcanoes and lush, green rice fields. I think the view from the train represents Indonesia fairly well.
Executive coach is air-conditioned, the seats recline, with lots of legroom; and every ½ hour or so, servers come through the cars with snacks or food we can buy. There is TV at the end of the car playing movies & variously annoying music videos. The executive line also makes fewer stops, cutting the time to Yogya by about an hour. The business class train is $6 for the same trip (1/3 the price), without the amenities.
