Highlights: e-mail problems, quick run to the boss’s office, saw my Army FAO friend Greg Ross, home early
There was a flurry of e-mail activity coming from the Marine Security Guard (MSG) Battalion Admin shop in Quantico, VA, which controls my pay issues… Finally we seem to be getting the right people’s attention in my efforts to fix my FLPP & OHA! (Foreign Language Proficiency Pay) & (Overseas Housing Allowance). The difference to my monthly paycheck is $400 (FLPP), and adjusting 1900 Rupiah (21 cents) to $1900.
The internet server here in Jakarta doesn’t seem to like e-mail addresses that end in “.mil”,,, and it’s taken me a few weeks to put two & two together…
Some of my e-mails get through somehow though- so there’s no rhyme or reason to it.. just- some days the server feels like playing ball, and other days it doesn’t.
That explains all the e-mails that I try to send to my boss in Washington DC, or the Admin guys,,, getting bounced back to me as “undeliverable”.
Ahh! Frustrating!
I ran to my local boss’s office today at the embassy & bumped into an old friend from language school in DC!
If any of my Inlingua friends are following along, “Hellooooo!” from me & Greg. (= ha ha. Looks like we’ll get to hang out for a while & do a few trips together.
One of the Indonesian TNI guys flew into town & wanted to hang out, but his plane got in late, and I was tired by 9pm anyways,,, so I went to bed early.
