Highlights: fly to Yogya, Taman Sari, Bantul tour, Aling salon, new suits ready, gifts for the family
My flight left at 6a.m. from Denpasar (1 ½ hour drive from Ubud). I got a taxi at 3a.m. =/ uggh! But I’m ½ way through my new book (What Muslims believe),,, so time wasn’t completely wasted.
I dropped my bags off at Nina’s kos & we drove around town, ending up at Taman Sari, the old royal city in central Yogya, where all the workers in the Kraton lived. It was once a very prestigious place to be. Today, it looks stuck in a bygone century, when compared with the modern developments just beyond the old city walls. The parts kept up most are the women’s bathing pool & gazebos. The motifs are Hindu… It’s beautiful.
