This is a very rural part of Indonesia. The landscape itself is impressive, notably cooler at 6,000’ elevation, but what impressed me most was how every square foot of even the steepest slopes were cultivated & used for planting something. They carved “steps” on the side of these hills for both irrigation & a little protection from landslides. (happens a lot, since all the trees were logged). Tobacco is mostly grown at the bottom of the mountain, and potatoes are the main crop near the top. It’s amazing to see.
