Highlights: Water Survival Training (WST), Viejas Casino, Uncle T goes home

This morning started early at the Water Survival Training Center at Miramar. This is training we have to keep updated every 4 years, and covers a range of physiological things we have to know as aircrew. Ironicly, sleep patterns and circadian rythms were on the list of class subjects. Ha ha.

Instructors are flight physicians and corpsmen who teach about the physiological hazards of flying, and how to manage them. Aside from that, we got some first aid training and more classroom time on survival lessons, should we find ourselves in an unplanned natural setting someday during the course of a flight.

After 8 hours of classroom time was up, I went home to make sure uncle T was keeling over of boredom at the house.

This was his last night, before flying home. Since everything in & around San Diego was new to him, I decided to take him out to Alpine and show him what the Indian casinos look like. Viejas Casino has grown quite a bit in the last few years. I like the blackjack tables myself. Not that I’m particularly good at card games, but it was fun explaining what little I know about strategy. The blackjack table made me a winner tonight, and we went home with $270 extra in my pocket.
Not bad for an hour of killing time! (=

In Indonesia, I got tired of hearing how bad alchohol is, and gambling, and sex, and appropriate boy-girl relations, etc. It’s nice to be back in a normal environment, where a few moderate vices don’t instantly send you to hell. I’m perfectly capable of playing with a little money, accepting the risk if I lose it all, and having a good time. Anyways-
I won enough tonight to pay for Vita’s whole year of school in 9th grade next year… or start a half-dozen home improvement projects around the house (= it’s a toss up.

I got uncle T to the airport in plenty of time to send him off, then proceeded directly home & jumped into bed. It was a good day!
