Highlights: still recovering, balai pustaka adventure
Getting out of bed took a bit more effort than usual today, and by the look on Eli’s face when she came to work,,, I wasn’t the only one still recovering from all day under the sun yesterday! (= ha ha.
I ventured out to get the pictures printed off my digital camera, so the neighbors could see themselves and have their own memories to keep.
While I was at it, I wanted to stop by the Fullbright office to look up scholarship info for Nina, to help her apply for college study-abroad opportunities in the states. Getting there was a frustrating adventure. The name of the building is Balai Pustaka (library building) in Central Jakarta. It so happens that there is a series of streets by the same name in East Jakarta. Jalan Balai Pustaka East, West, North & South…
Uggh.. a few phone calls later I had the right street address, and after tacking on a few dollars & lost time to my cab ride, I arrived only to find the offices were CLOSED!!!
What? A Holiday? It’s Monday right? A normal working day? For the love of Peter… I should have stayed at home.
I met Ririn out for dinner at Citos with Nina. She is the older sister of Nana (24 year old half-sister of Ibu Rochmadi; my host family in Yogya). I was afraid that she & Luke were bored yesterday at the park, as they mostly stood around the fringes of the group looking on. She says they both had a great time watching everyone enjoy their day running around Dufan. Whew.
