after running out for dinner, there was an invitation to a karaoke party at the neighbor’s. Mom & Dad were already over there. Nina felt the sudden need to take a nap. I had no excuses. I showed up, and 20 minutes later found myself standing in front of the mike with Dad, straining to remember how a few Bee Gees tunes went.
Well! I remember that they were big in the 70s,,, but can’t claim to have ever internalized the words. “How Deep is Your Love” is about the only tune I remember, and that wasn’t on the list.
Getting off the stoop wasn’t going to be easy, so I sacrificially slaughtered an Elvis tune or two. Apologies to the “King”. May his current resting position be as comfortable as the one before he rolled over in his grave.
And to cap off the night,,, a DVD rental of a Japanese samurai classic… Zatoichi, the movie. A touch slow moving, and they didn’t use the original Zatoichi character,,, but some blue eyed, bleached hair imposter… but it was still pretty good. All that was missing were Papa’s sly additional commentary (= That always adds a great dimension.
