We took a becak around downtown Blitar before jumping on a bus and heading up to Karangkates, a hydro-power plant & flood management dam on the Brantas River. On weekends, this turns into quite the hang-out place. Folks drive out on their scooters and sit on the dam as the sun goes down. The water level is low now, as this is turning out to be a particularly long dry season.
Besides the dam, sugar cane and rice seem to be the primary products to come from this area.
