A note about night traffic in Central Java,,, it gets more interesting after the sun goes down. For one thing, Indonesian drivers are fond of the gas pedal & drive with a heavy foot in tight spaces. Another observation,,, the larger your vehicle, the more “right of way” you may claim- no matter which side of the road you happen to be on. Truck drivers were fond of driving straight down the middle of the road… I actually saw oncoming cars go off the pavement to avoid them. It’s good to be big I guess.

We left Yogya around 4, and arrived in Cepu at 9pm.

The greeting party was Nina’s mom & grandmother. (= we sat on the couch,,, and they let me talk (introducing myself) until I couldn’t think of anything else to say. I had about 20 minutes of wind in me,,, then Nina kindly suggested I go take a shower so she & her mom could talk about me behind my back.

Their home is beautiful, by the way. I had my own room (complete with bathroom), and quickly got to work washing off a full day of travel. Within 20 minutes or so of emerging- I was ready for bed.
