Highlights: last day of class, gamelan, hanging out with Nina
It feels a little strange that the summer is coming to an end,,, and everything we do in these next few days has the weight of finality behind it. =/
Class today wasn’t really about learning… but a way of starting to say goodbye. Kind of sad. It’s such a Javanese tradition of humility,,, but each of our teachers asked forgiveness for the mistakes they’ve made, or if they were ever boring in class. Tomorrow is our final exam, and we went over a few last minute questions to get ready for it.
I think half of us are worried about the grades we get from this program, and how the credit translates to their home universities… and half of us are just here for the experience of learning about Indonesia. I probably fall more in the second category- but my time here has been great. I’ve definitely learned a lot, whether my grades get me on the honor roll or not. It’s been worth it.
