Highlights: all day getting home
Our flight left Banda Aceh at 10:40 (according to the schedule),, 11:10 (according to my watch); and despite the appearance of a direct flight to Jakarta (as reflected on the ticket), our plane landed in Medan on the way.
Getting to Jakarta took about 4 hours. The hard part was enduring a 4 hour lay-over in the Jakarta airport which stretched to 6 after our plane broke down & had to be replaced.
Being stuck in the Jakarta airport, with MTv going in the background, is enough to put well-intentioned travelers off of flying. It sucks.
We finally got home by 9:40pm. My whole host family was up & waiting to hear stories from Aceh. (= ha ha. Overall, it was a great trip. I’m looking forward to going back sometime before the end of the year.
