The other thing I was frustrated about was that I just lost the use of my scooter for a day or two,,, and I was planning on radio shopping for Ena’s family this afternoon.

Indah was feeling crappy that I got in an accident coming home from her program (I think she was more shaken than I was,, having watched it happen), and offered to give me a ride.

That’s ok… I was just going to shop for a new radio & I could take a cab. She had nothing else to do today & offered to come along. Sure,, why not? I explained my idea of helping a few Bantul families, starting with the ones I’ve been working with, as we went from store to store.

I found the Polytron radio that I liked,,, complete with DVD option & detachable speakers. It’s the best radio I bet they’ve ever had. (=
Near the front desk I saw a display of TV’s on a promotion sale… I asked if I could get a bigger discount if I got the TV with the radio. Indeed.

I thought about the TV that Ena’s family is working with… it is old to begin with & was broken from falling bricks. They scrapped money together to fix it- but humble is a nice way to describe it. “Dallas” was a new show when this TV was made.

Another thought crossed my mind. Emang mentioned the other day that after I gave them a few play-station games that could be played through their computer (also repaired after the quake), many of the neighborhood kids came to their house to play, since they had the only semi-functional computer.
So the thought running through my mind was,,, making their home an entertainment center helped not only them- but their neighborhood as well.

Throw the TV in boss! I’ll take them both. I was feeling like Bob Barker for a moment (=. It felt good.

Even with a scooter- I was going to need 4 wheels to get this stuff down to Bantul. One cab ride & 20 minutes later,,, I was on Emang & Dwi’s doorstep. There was no Ed McMahon moment of jumping up & down or anything. They almost cried. I don’t think they knew how to express their happiness. (= I told them I wanted to get them a radio the other day- but a new Samsung flat screen TV knocked their hats back a bit. It was worth it. A small investment for me has already meant a huge jump in their quality of living,,, and I know they appreciate it.
