After that, many neighborhood leaders had a ceremony to read the formal letters from the mayor or governor in celebration of Independence Day… complete with Javanese singing & poetry reading about the homeland. I tried my best to focus & pay attention for longer than 15 minutes,, but it was a downhill battle. Formalities are not a big attraction for me.
