Tonight, my younger brother (adik Adi) is playing guitar in his band “Back up” during tonight’s contest to determine Jogja’s best band. It’s the Jogja music nation finals, outside the Kraton in southern Jogja. The competition has been pared down from the top 100 bands, to the top 50, to the top 10,,, and tonight a winner will be determined. (=

Adi’s been playing guitar for 8 years… I haven’t heard him play yet- but am looking forward to correcting that in a couple hours. Go Adi! Ha ha.

The whole family went. I watched with Ojik & Ibu. Pak Rochmadi couldn’t find a place to park, so he stayed with the car & drove around for nearly 2 hours. Streets were closed down,, scooters parked everywhere…

It was packed! It looked like every teenager & twenty-something in town with a scooter was there… 20,000 I’m guessing. Whew! It was a big deal.
I’m not sure what was generating more funny looks tonight,,, being the only bule (westerner) I saw in the crowd, or being there with Adi’s mom and 10-year old brother. Ha ha. I guess we were an odd looking trio.

Adi’s band was one of the last to play,, and each band was allowed 2 songs, but they played well. I’ll let you be the judge. (=
