Cooking class was delicious, as always. Bu Hariandja’s daughter & niece are in town for a week break. One works at a hotel in Bali’s north shore, and the other works with the UN office for women’s rights in East Timor. I would have loved to talk to them longer about that,, but Eric & I were anxious to run back to campus to try our luck with the internet connection.

I got a flat tire on the way,, which happened within 5 feet of a “tambal ban” tire patch shop on Jalan Kaliurang. Ha ha! What are the chances?

The winds of fortune were not blowing my way tonight, however. After 4 hours of getting teased,, with occasional connectivity, then “cannot find server”,,, persistence did not pay off, and we went home tired & disappointed.

Sorry it took so long to get these updates to you guys! I know, with the news this week of another beating at the hands of Mother Nature, Indonesia is once again on the forefront of international attention.

Well,, for a brief moment anyways. Nothing steals the spot-light quite like a little scuffle over in the Middle East.
