Highlights: walking around Kuta beach, flying home
There are so many western tourists here,, mostly Australian. And the mix of American brand name stores and restaurants (including a Hard Rock café), is so different from anything you usually see.
In Java, very few wear shorts out of the house. Here, all the western tourists were cruising around in flip flops and shorts or swimsuits.
From what little I saw, there was also a huge age gap between two groups of tourists. There were the 20 somethings, who mostly looked like they walked out of an Abercrombie & Fitch poster… and then there was an abundance of long-haired 60 somethings.
According to Dan, one such lady next to him on the beach today had a thong on,, and was frequently bending over to fiddle with something in her bag. Dan says it was like a car accident,,, you don’t want to see, but can’t stop looking. Ha ha! Poor guy. (=
Did I mention pirated video capital? $1 gets you a movie still in theatres. Marty is convinced even the theatres are playing pirated movies. Who knows?
Our flight left Denpasar at 6:50,, and just like I thought- this was the first time in 4 days I had seen some of my friends. It sounded like everyone had great times here in Bali though. For such a small island, there is so much to do! I’m not even sure how deep a dent I made into seeing all there is to experience here. Sounds like I’ll have to come back later to find out!
