Highlights: pretty normal day really. Nothing stands out.
Tomorrow we’ll get the results from our test last week, as well as another round of quizzes. Good times!
Oh! School started this week throughout Indonesia for elementary through High schoolers. The summer break lasted about 1 month.
A lot of kindergarten & 1st grader moms are walking their kids to class, and hanging around all day to watch their sons & daughters in their first days of school. I read about it in the newspaper on the flight home from Bali,,, then discovered my 3rd period teacher (Ibu Daru) is one such mom! Ha ha. She said Monday was hard,,, taking her 3 ½ year old to school for the first time.
Gamelan class is dragging a little bit. Gotta be honest- Pak Eddy is great, but it’s not the most captivating after-school activity. Defectors are lurking in the midsts,,, and if we didn’t have a performance coming up, the ranks would definitely be getting thinner. Oh well! It’s just 3 more weeks.
Several of us are kicking around plans to run up to Aceh before the end of our summer studies program here. It’s not expensive to get there from here, and what a unique opportunity to see for ourselves what’s going on there. Al LaPorta, USINDO president & former U.S. ambassador, is coming out next week to visit, and there’s a possibility some of us could travel up to Aceh with him,, which would be great!
Ah! Thank goodness,,, I finally got a decent internet signal! Youtube is acting up a little, so I’ll have to wait on most of my videos,, but at least I could get through here!
