It was great taking the day to go around central Bali. I got the impression that this reflects the life of the majority of Balinese people outside the tourist areas: simple, hard-working farmers, restaurant owners, wood carvers, and artists of various kinds.

Tomorrow is our last day, and I was the last of the Mohicans still in Ubud, so I thought I’d catch up with the gang at the southern beaches. $15 got me a 1 ½ hour cab ride to Kuta beach, and another $15 got me a simple hotel room.
