Highlights: family trip around the Eastern parts of the island (Pura Puncak Penulisan, Danau Batur, Pura Besakih, Pura Penebel)
This morning we rented a car, closed up shop, and took the whole family on a trip around the eastern half of the island.
Very much aware that the mere sight of an American will double or triple the cost of anything, Pak Suwamana took my money & got a Toyota SUV for $25 for the day.
We followed a clock-wise path through the Eastern mountains, stopping first to pray for success along our travels at Pura Puncak Penulisan, an ancient Hindu temple perched atop a 5,235’ mountain, dating to the Majapahit era (14th century) which once allowed royal visitors only.
