Highlights: Idul Adha & Christmas party
There’s a Muslim tradition here (Idul Adha) whereby folks with means ($) are required, at least once in their life, to contribute a cow or goat to the poor. These animals are slaughtered on 31 December at local mosques, and the meat given out to the less well-off Muslims in the surrounding area.
I was wondering why all of a sudden there were cows & goats in bamboo livestock kennels springing up all over the city of Jakarta!
