We visited the central mosque on our way back to the hotel to meet our friends for dinner,, which happened to be close to another historic corner of Bandung: Sukarno’s jail cell, where he was imprisoned by the Dutch in the early 1940s as a rebel Independence leader. The Dutch prison has since been destroyed, save for this one historic site, which was preserved & renovated by his daughter, Megawati, when she became Indonesia’s 5th President in 2002.
