The busses from Cepu to Ngawi were packed. Nina’s dad got permission from work to drive us back. Very kind of him. It became a family affair, as everyone piled into the car to see Nina & me off. His aim was to take us all the way to Yogya, a 4-hour drive each way- but by the time we got to Ngawi,,, the long night last night was wearing on us both. The girls all passed out in the car in the first 10 minutes. Ha ha.
The roads between Cepu & Ngawi aren’t known for their smoothness. Large zigzags to avoid craterous potholes are the norm in both directions of traffic. Speeds of 40mph were sometimes reached.
To spare the driver, we found a bus stop with seats available in Ngawi for the rest of the trip (= $7 got us both home to Yogya.
Nina rented a traditional kebaya & gown for the Marine Birthday ball tomorrow (= so we picked that up tonight, then found a hotel for me to stay,,, since the Rochmadi family is away celebrating Lebaran Idul Fitri in mom’s home town, Wonosobo.
I found an internet café across the street from Wisma Mahasiswa hotel, and ticked off all 88 messages in my e-mail inbox until 2:30 in the morning (= ¾ of that was junk mail anyways.
