Highlights: day 17 of fasting, embassy, more reports

I had stuffed myself for dinner last night at Bakmi Jempol (noodle thumb), a Chinese restaurant on the side of the road 2 blocks from my house, co-located with “Monster burger”. Ha ha. First place I’ve ever seen that has dueling laminated menus for you when you walk in,, and dueling servers! Teriyaki steak? Or Bakmi ayam and nasi goreng? (chicken noodles + fried rice). I went with a double helping of the traditional food. When in rome,,, don’t eat hamburgers. (=

The point of describing my full stomach from last night is in justifying my lazyness in not stirring from bed at 3 am for the sahur,,, yet again! ahhh…

I was regretting that decision by about 11 am. But I persevered & got through the day just fine.

I got to the embassy just fine, cracked the code into my “official” e-mail, and zinged a few reports out to the folks in DC. Better late than never!
I got my voter registration taken care of, registered for an Indonesian identity card (KTP), and navigated my way through the confusing bus network home. It’s much simpler going to the center of town than it is heading away.
