Fourth stop: timber mill
A lot of logging has taken place here in Java. In many places, you would never know there used to be thick woods here… There are old train tracks, once used to carry the lumber to timber markets. It’s been so long since those trains have run, many look abandoned now.
One of the lumber saw-mills still runs here in Cepu though, and we stopped by, just to see. Pretty area. A concerned security guard came over at one point to inquire who “authorized” us to be there. After assuring him we didn’t work for the government or a competing lumber yard, he left us alone.
