I took a walk down a side street in Jakarta, not sure what i'd find... this sidewalk is maybe 5 feet across, and packed with kids playing, women washing laundry, men smoking & sitting in the shade,,, and a hundred variations of the word "home".
home on this street looks about the size of an American living room. maybe 400 sq ft. the best part though was the looks on people's faces when they saw three tall westerners walk down their alley- (i'm guessing an uncommon experience), and when i greeted them in their language- their faces just lit up with huge smiles. (= i'm so happy i speak bahasa indonesia. people here are so friendly
